On Saturday, August 15 and Monday, August 17, 2026, Mr. Kanta Shimane from Wakura Onsen Tourism Association・Wakura Onsen Hotels Cooperative Association joined our Advancing and Mastering Japanese classes as a guest speaker via Zoom. Wakura Onsen is a hot spring located along the coast on the eastern side of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, and is famous nationwide as a “hot spring of the sea.” Using a PowerPoint presentation full of photos and illustrations, Mr. Shimane comprehensively introduced the charms of Wakura Onsen, from its history to recommended tourist spots, festivals, gourmet food, and sweets. Every time a new photo was shown, participants listened with deep interest, exclaiming in admiration, “Amazing!”, “Wow!”, “Looks delicious!”, and “Beautiful!” During the Q&A session, questions never stopped, covering how to get to Wakura Onsen, the dates of each festival, the best season to visit, ease of driving, availability of sightseeing boats, and the differences between Wakura Onsen and other hot spring areas. It was a highly meaningful time to hear about the charms of the area directly from local people. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude once again to Wakura Onsen Tourism Association・Wakura Onsen Hotels Cooperative Association for their cooperation.
