On Sunday, April 26, 2026, with the support of the Nagasaki International Tourism and Convention Association, we held the second session of the “Let’s Talk with Local People!” Japanese Language Workshop. In this session, Mr. Koichi Kirino, Chairman of the NPO Nagasaki Comprador, gave a lecture on Nagasaki’s history and culture. Participants were surprised to learn that Nagasaki, the only gateway to the world during Japan’s Edo period, has a history and culture completely different from other prefectures. Their interest in Nagasaki grew, and many expressed a stronger desire to visit. During the Q&A session, participants actively asked questions and gained a deeper understanding of Nagasaki’s well rooted culture and the warmth of its people. It was a highly meaningful experience beyond what regular classes can offer. The remaining two sessions will be held on May 10 and May 31. In the next session on May 10, a university student speaker will introduce Nagasaki’s sweets and latest tourist spots!
